Life Insurance

Part 2

By W. Diane Van Zwol

The world of life insurance is one in which you must always consider the cost. Knowledge about life insurance is the secret when you are considering the cost of coverage.

In other words, you need to obtain knowledge about life insurance, in order to weigh the benefits of purchasing life insurance, against the actual cost or price that you will have to pay for the life insurance.

Life insurance coverage is only a benefit if it actually meets the needs that you and your family may have in the present or the future and this must include both short term and long term needs.

Be aware that there really is no such a thing as free life insurance and you cannot assume that you have life insurance, unless you have actually purchased it at some time and maintained the policy according to its specifications.

Insurance Quotes

Before purchasing any life insurance it is a good idea to get a few quotes from different companies that offer life insurance. Find out exactly what you are purchasing before making any serious commitment to a life insurance policy. Ask each insurance company direct questions about how the specific policy being offered to you, will provide for you and your loved ones. Make certain that the policy you sign and thus purchase, gives adequate coverage for you and all of your family members, before you sign any actual contracts.

Life Insurance

What is life insurance? This is is the kind of insurance coverage that you buy or purchase in case something should happen to you, or to your loved ones. In other words, if you were to die or to lose your spouse or children, parents, dependents, etc. in an accident or disaster, you would receive a certain amount of money. Note that many times, policies will cover accidental death, but they may not cover death by natural causes. Policies may not cover long term illness which results in death either.

Term Life Insurance

Term life insurance covers you only for a specific period of time. Only a loss incurred during that specific time will be paid out, by the insurance company. In other words, should your loss occur after that time, you would not receive any payment from the insurance company. Before you purchase a policy, find out exactly how long the coverage actually is, in terms or months or years, if you are buying term life insurance.

Insurance Settlements

Be aware that in order to collect on any insurance claim, you have to seek a settlement with the insurance company. In other words, it is necessary to file a claim for an insurance settlement. You may have to seek legal counsel in this regard. Be aware, when you purchase your coverage, what terms and conditions have to be met in order to qualify for the payout of a settlement. Also be aware that a settlement may take considerable time and the insurance company may try to find a way not to pay it. They may also stall in terms of making any payments on it. Find out if all of the settlement would be payable immediately, as this may not be the case.

Insurance Rates

Insurance rates can vary from company to company and that is why you need to find out exactly what your cost will be. Your insurance contract may have different rates for different aspects of coverage, so read your contract thoroughly, before you sign it. What you are paying may not be as important, as what you are paying for in terms of coverage.

Credit Insurance

Credit insurance can be really important in terms of your credit simply, because not being able to meet your credit commitments, due to a change in your circumstances, can affect your whole future. Find out before you sign anything, whether or not you and your family have actual credit insurance coverage, in case of an emergency situation, like a death in the family. Also find out for what length of time you are covered. Is it temporary or permanent coverage?

Health Insurance Leads

When trying to decide what kind of health insurance to purchase with life insurance, look at other factors as well, like leads. Are there only certain aspects of your family’s health care needs that will be met, while other aspects will not be covered? Is your policy one that covers disability with health care needs being met in full as well, in case of an accident? Does it it cover you and your family for natural disasters and the illnesses that can result from them? Or for other illnesses? Look for leads from others who have received appropriate settlements before you make your decision.

Life Insurance Policies

Life insurance policies, like anything else, are subject to change over time. It is very important to know exactly what you sign, when you sign a life insurance policy. Read it very carefully and ask the insurance company or your financial adviser, to go over the policy with you, so that there is no misunderstanding. Find out exactly what is required of you before you sign it. Learn how, when and where your payments are to be made, because missing payments could void your policy.

Discount Life Insurance

Discount life insurance may turn out to be something that costs you more in the long run, than what it might cost you to purchase insurance at full price. This is simply because in order to discount a policy, there can be changes initiated in the policy itself. Again, buyer beware. What appears to be legitimate, may not be that at all.

California Medical Insurance

Every medical insurance policy is designed to look good, no matter what company you purchase insurance from, but when it comes right down to the actual payment of a settlement, your medical insurance coverage may or may not be adequate. Many medical insurance policies have certain clauses in them, that may or may not be pertinent to what your future medical needs or your family’s future medical needs are going to be. You and your family may not have coverage at all for some of these. There is always a degree of uncertainty when it comes to speculating on personal medical insurance coverage. Make certain that the company you choose to cover you is a legitimate one. Check them out with other insurance companies and the Better Business Bureau.

In conclusion, knowledge is the key to purchasing adequate life insurance. In terms of dollars and cents, life, health and medical insurance seems to be relatively inexpensive to purchase, but going the least expensive route, may not be the best road to travel. It may cost far more in the end.

Weighing the cost, with an eye to the future, is always advisable in the world of life insurance.
